2 May 2022 – Expleo in Romania has gone from strength to strength since we entered the market in 1994. Today we have almost 1,100 employees across three offices working on global projects. And things show no signs of slowing down. Vincent Fusier, COO of Expleo Romania recently sat down with Forbes to talk about the company’s journey and its plans for the future. How would you describe your experience in Romania?

As someone who has worked in many countries, I have been impressed by how ambitious and driven the people from Romania are. I have been living in Romania for the past four years, and I have noticed that people are highly educated, extremely hard working, flexible and devoted to their activities. The people have a global and open-minded outlook but are also proud of Romania and want to show the rest of the world what they can do. I can count on my team to get the job done no matter what and together we contribute to our business growth and development. 

What does Expleo mean?

Expleo means quality, innovation, teamwork, and continuous development. We are a trusted partner, guided by shared values such as courage, excellence, collaboration, respect and accountability. We pride ourselves on working on the kind of projects that make a difference to our everyday lives – in areas such as Net Zero, clean transport and banking innovation. Expleo itself is currently in the process of an organization-wide transformation programme which is bringing our technical expertise and industry experience closer together. This is creating a more effective offering for our customers, improving feedback and helping us win even more contracts and projects. In fact, recently our company was named as one of the Top100 Tech companies worldwide just showing the huge strides we’re making. 

Expleo Romania

What is the history and goals of Expleo in Romania?

The company entered the market in Romania in 1994 and, after a local market orientation, our activity took a turn in the mid-2000s when Expleo Romania became an excellence center for Expleo Group, our growth being accelerated to the point where we exceeded 1000 employees in 2017, and are now fully integrated into Expleo’s global team. At Expleo Romania, our impact doesn’t end at our borders: we work closely with our colleagues from the likes of France, Germany, India and the UK for customers worldwide. 

We never stand still at Expleo and as our business expands and demand increases, we evolve with that. For a long while, Expleo Romania’s main focus has been the automotive industry, but now we are ready to take over the digital market as well with promising prospects and already 100 employees working exclusively on digital projects.

In Romania, we have three office locations: two in Bucharest and one in Iasi. We have recently invested in modernizing our workspaces: we have moved our main office location to the seventh floor of Afi Park 4&5, marking a new era for our company. The wellbeing of our colleagues is a key focus for us and we have developed a full flexible working scheme which will allow them to better balance their personal and work life. We also want to encourage our employees to explore and come up with new ideas: that’s why we have now created an “Innov’ Lab” space dedicated to testing and innovation open to all employees who want to express their creativity. One of our main goals for 2022 is to recruit 1,000 new people to join our team. So far, we have hired more than 250 bold thinkers and are confident that by the end of the year our goal will have been achieved.

The general idea is that the IT&C labor market is dominated by men. How does your company promote inclusivity?

Our company promotes equality in all of its aspects, including gender equality. More than 36% of Expleo Romania’s employees are women, as well as 30% of all our managers, and our goal is to increase that percentage in time.  We believe our diversity is a source of strength. 

Lastly but not least, why would someone choose to work for Expleo instead of any other company?
