Dublin, 23 April 2019. Expleo, the technology partner for innovative companies, today announces that it has helped Concern Worldwide to digitally transform its global fundraising activities. Expleo analysed and streamlined hundreds of Concern’s fundraising processes, which will help the charity to increase donation revenues and improve donor engagement across its global operations.

Concern Worldwide is Ireland’s largest humanitarian aid agency, employing 3,300 staff in 25 countries around the world. It raises over €190 million annually, including €136 million in grants and €40 million from its fundraising efforts. Together, this funding is used to reach 24 million people in need across the world.

Concern receives donations from many thousands of supporters each year, with individual transactions and engagements totalling many multiples of that figure. Concern required a new integrated digital platform to enhance and scale fundraising activities, grant management and supporter engagements effectively. The charity chose Expleo, based on its experience of managing large and complex digital transformation projects, to prepare Concern for this digital transformation.

Expleo provided a wide range of digital consultancy services, including a three-week discovery phase which involved scrupulous analysis of Concern’s current fundraising activities; helping Expleo uncover areas that could be more efficient and where new opportunities lay.  Following this, Expleo identified and mapped more than 200 workflows such as incoming calls, donor records and communication preferences. The entire process allowed Concern to improve efficiency, transparency and the streamlining of fundraising and grant activities – therefore increasing fundraising potential.

By working with Expleo, Concern Worldwide significantly reduced the discovery phase for the digital project – allowing the charity to deploy a new CRM system in a shorter timeframe and therefore implement more efficient fundraising activities sooner. The system will be used in each of Concern’s country, regional, county and town offices in 25 countries.

The new digital platform is helping Concern to improve how donor engagements are tracked, boosting fundraising opportunities and ultimately, increasing donor revenues. It will also help Concern to allocate grant funding to the locations that need it the most.

Melanie Byrne, Director of Business Analysis, Expleo Ireland, said: “Concern is a wonderful Irish success story which provides vital aid and humanitarian services across the world. We were delighted to be chosen as their digital strategy partner, helping them to analyse their processes, embrace technological change and transform donor engagement and fundraising activities.”

Richard Dixon, Director of Public Affairs, Concern Worldwide, said: “We have a commitment to being a digital-first charity. As part of this, we were making much-needed investments in our grant management and fundraising programmes. Expleo’s experience of managing large-scale technology-led transformation projects provided us with the confidence that they could help us on our digital journey.

“When we unpacked everything we do, we had more than 200 data-driven processes. Expleo mapped these so we could capture, monitor and evaluate everything to prepare us for the next stage as the more efficient we are, the more work we can do.

“We are increasingly using digital technology to support our programmes overseas. It is hugely important to our ability to donate online quickly in times of emergencies.  We can also transfer money to people in need, which is helping us to empower communities. Expleo is an essential and highly valued partner on this digital journey.”
