How to keep pace with the pressure of high demand
The last 12 months in the global aeronautic market have told a story of growth: increased demand and record delivery, but also growing concern around a number of pressing challenges. A decade on from the Great Recession, all signs point towards a period of sustained growth. Passenger miles continue to rise. Indeed, air travel demand rose by 6.5 % in 2018, the eighth consecutive yearly rise of more than 5 %. Demand for commercial aircraft continues to follow the same upwards trajectory, with forecast sales of over 37,000 planes in the pipeline over the next 20 years.
What are the key trends moving forward?
The greatest barrier to the successful resolution of the order backlog is supply. How can manufacturers bring highest quality products to market quickly and safely – whilst remaining competitive on price? How do they overcome the inevitable capacity constraints from increased demand?
2019 needs to be the year when supply catches up on demand. The year when Industry 4.0 really kicks in.
